ST. PETERSBURG, FL (Tuesday, January 11, 2022) – On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 7:15 pm, First Unity Spiritual Campus will host the premiere of “We Are Never Alone” a film about suicide prevention and mental health recovery. The film details a mother’s search for answers after her son’s suicide.
Directed by Michel Pascal, the film brings together international best-selling author and alternative medicine advocate Deepak Chopra, author Michael Bernard Beckwith, actress and humanitarian, Gabriella Wright and First Unity Spiritual Campus’ Spiritual Leader, Rev. Dr. Temple Hayes.
“We are honored to be included in the film and to have our efforts toward promoting mental wellness recognized,” states Rev. Dr. Hayes. “At our campus, we are committed to sacred activism, and suicide prevention is one of those we remain involved.”
In 2019, First Unity Spiritual Campus appeared at Carnegie Hall in conjunction with the Deepak Chopra’s #NeverAlone movement. They also hosted three mental health community forums including a holiday session which featured remarks and Q&A from Florida State Senator Darryl E. Rouson.
“People need more from their spiritual communities than only one service each week,” states First Unity Executive Director, Natasha A. Pierre. “The past two years of life during a pandemic evidenced the need for people to be connected to a community that cares for them body, mind and spirit.”
Pierre is also the Dean of Mental Health with First Unity’s Institute for Leadership and Lifelong Learning International (illli.org) and was diagnosed with a mental illness.
“This film premiere serves to normalize conversations about mental health,” states Pierre. “For people affected by mental illness, we want to send a clear message that it is okay to not feel okay, and it is okay to reach out for help.”
The film will be screened in the Sanctuary at the First Unity Spiritual Campus, and attendance is free. They are located at is 460 46th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL.
